Playstation Network Plus hit today and I'm not happy
Well the much anticipated Playstation Plus hit the net today, and I’m not getting it. You wanna know why? BECAUSE SONY LOVE EUROPEANS MORE THAN ME!!! I’m serious, I was kind of excited because I thought that when you bought a yearlong subscription to PSN+ you got a copy of Little Big Planet for free, and not only that but it would be free from the subscription lapse lock out like the other features of PSN+. LBP at standard retail costs 30 dollars, and PSN+ for a year costs 50 dollars, this seemed like a pretty cool way for me to acquire both the game, and a year of free game downloads, and discounted content at an unbeatable discount price. Unfortunately I found out today that the LBP promotion was only for European costumers, so I decided I no longer want PSN+… for now.
It’s surprising how much Sony has tried to give for free to the European market, earlier this year alone they tried to bolster sales for the PSP Go in the region by offering 10 free full games to anyone who bought the system new. I just don’t get why the PAL regions get so much love over us poor NSTC guys, oh well…
PSN+ offers a bevy of content monthly to all Playstation network subscribers. At a mere 50 dollars a year (Same price as Xbox Live), you get monthly free downloads of games, early (more like on time) demos and beta access, and a nifty push download feature that will turn you PS3 on to download updates automatically. Note that if your subscription lapses the user will be locked out of all downloaded games, until subscription is reinstated. I personally don’t think it’s worth the price the games they are offering as of right now, but with some killer apps it might become worth it down the road. I still am an Xbox live man myself, but we will see if I might need dual subscriptions.
- To access PSN+ you must install PS3 update 3.40
- You don’t need PSN+ to play games online
